Fun in Work
Nov. 3, 2010
4 - 7 pm
Many organisations promote personal passion, openness, honesty, trust, transparency, collaborative decision-making, positive team dynamics, and building relationships – and yet there is little workplace engagement and not much fun. fun might be periodically tolerated as a interpersonal process, yet rarely promoted as an end goal, core organisational value and strategy. Having fun in work is often seen as unprofessional, a stigma of not having the ‘the right managerial stuff’. Yet, when most recollect fun-filled memories in their past or current working lives, they were (or are) experiencing the ideal work situation described above. This session will identify how hierarchies suppress, if not stop, fun in work. We will identify the personal, interpersonal, cultural and organisational transformational elements to realign fun in work, to keep alive fun’s social equity spaces.
Presenter
Walter Podilchak has researched fun throughout his academic career, actually doing a PHD thesis on fun and its relationships to everyday life, work and organizational development. He has published several papers on fun, has given talks related to fun in the workplace, and he is currently a consultant (fun.ink). He can be reached at walter.podilchak (at) gmail.com.

Tactically, what are some practical ways to secure some quick and tangible CSR wins for your company that will pave the way for greater initiatives in the future? You will hear two dynamic presentations from our speakers, plus engage in some stimulating discussion about how CSR does – and could – look in your (or a client’s) company.

Relationship Systems Intelligence
May 27 2010
Registration & Light Supper Sandwiches at 5:30pm; Workshop starts at 6:00pm.
Workshop ends at 8:00pm; Networking until cleanout at 8:30pm
This interactive workshop introduces Relationship Systems Intelligence™. Relationship Systems Intelligence builds on principles from Emotional and Social Intelligence, and then expands the focus to a larger paradigm, the capacity to see oneself as part of a Relationship System. A Relationship System is an interdependent group of people with common identity or function. Identifying with and aligning with a system is a holonic shift up from simply connecting effectively with others. It is the difference between relating with a bunch of individuals in a group, to seeing the group as a single integrated whole.
Drawing from experience with clients such as Boeing, IBM, and the Grand Canyon, the presenter will focus on how leveraging the three Intelligences is fundamental to creating resilient, nimble organizations. You will leave with practical tools to apply in your own practice or organization.

Organizations must adapt to their environments. Cultural Capital – the ability of an organization to build a corporate culture that attracts and retains talented people – is rapidly emerging as the most important criterion for success. Who you are and what you stand for is just as important as the quality of products and services you provide. To become a market leader involves embarking on a process of whole system change.
